A NEW SUPERNATURAL LAW IN CHRIST

We are gloriously and wonderously saved because God has implemented for us what we could not do for ourselves. It is not for us to understand. His ways are not ours, but God has revealed this much - Salvation is according to His Grace and the mystery of His Love.

For it is indeed a mystery - a mystery wrapped in a paradox. God has decreed - "the soul that sins must surely die."[Eze.18.4] This is a law, not a rumor, and it is as certain as the law of gravity. We are all violators of this law and the consequences have been determined. As sure as the force of gravity, a fall from Grace has the same inevitable conclusion, and our souls are all in a steep fall from Grace heading towards a sudden and disastrous end.

But God, showing mercy to the redeemed, has allowed another law to work. Christ, the lawgiver, miraculously intervenes in the fall. Jesus does not break the existing law, he amends it. Like a defensive back who intercepts a pass that is destined for completion, Jesus grabs us in mid-fall and tucks us safely away. This is the mystery of God's grace - a new law - the "law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus"[Rom.8.10].
